Nitrogen-Filled Tires

Nitrogen gas offers a variety of benefits that extend tire life. Because it is inert, non combustible and non corrosive it’s not destructive to tires. Just like an old rubber band you find around your house, your tires are subject to the same corrosive properties of air. Filling tires with nitrogen prevents corrosion on the inside. Nitrogen slows pressure loss from permeation and reduces running temperatures. Testing shows that nitrogen-inflated tires last longer, reduce tire failures by 50 percent and increase tread life by 25-30 percent.

Nitrogen keeps tires at recommended air pressure levels longer, reducing rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is simply the friction between the tire and the road. Under-inflated tires result in more flexing of the sidewalls and increase rolling resistance. Over inflated tires sacrifice traction and may not reduce rolling resistance. Nitrogen inflated tires keep air pressure at optimum levels longer which improves fuel efficiency and safety.
